Our Mission

The East Orange School District is committed to and will prepare all of our students for college, careers, and life. We will provide a safe, clean, positive, and supportive learning environment in which all students can successfully develop socially, emotionally, and academically into lifelong learners and responsible, productive citizens. We will continually strengthen and align our curriculum with state, national, and international standards that are engaging, rigorous, relevant, and implemented consistently. We will ensure that all students, parents, staff, and community members are respected and informed in our family-friendly schools. We will strive to motivate and engage all of our students through various innovative instructional strategies, methods, and techniques. Utilizing students’ skills, talents, and unique abilities, we will prepare them to meet the demands of an ever-changing competitive 21st-century global society.

Superintendent's Message

Dear East Orange School District Families,

We understand that many in our community are facing significant concern due to the ongoing developments in federal immigration policies. The safety and well-being of our students and families remain our highest priority, and we want to assure you of our unwavering commitment to supporting and safeguarding everyone in our school community.

To that end, we want to emphasize the following:

• Confidentiality: Information about our students, staff, and families is strictly confidential. We do not share any details with non-local law enforcement about a student, their family, or employees unless legally required to do so. Furthermore, we do not collect or require proof of immigration or citizenship status. Any knowledge of an individual’s immigration or asylum status must not be recorded in school documents and will remain confidential.

• School Facility Access: Our school buildings are not open to the public. Non-local law enforcement agencies cannot access our facilities without proper legal documentation.

• Students’ Right to Education: Every child, regardless of immigration or asylum status, has the right to a public school education. Students experiencing temporary housing challenges also have the right to stay in their current school even if they relocate.

• Staff Training: In the coming weeks, school personnel will undergo training to ensure we are fully informed about the immigration rights of children and families. This will help us better support you and provide accurate, up-to-date guidance when needed.
