The East Orange School District is excited to have participated in National Read Across America Week celebration, from March 3 to March 7. This nationwide celebration of reading aims to inspire a love of books and literacy in students of all ages.
Throughout the week, EOSD schools engaged in a variety of exciting activities designed to promote reading and foster a lifelong passion for learning. Students, teachers, and community members came together to celebrate the joy of reading through guest readers, themed dress-up days, book fairs, read-aloud sessions and numerous literacy-based activities instructed by our district ELA supervisor, Ms. Bridgett Green.
"Celebrating Read Across America week is a wonderful opportunity to highlight the joy and importance of reading in our schools and community,” stated ELA Supervisor Ms. Bridgett Green. “This special day inspires students to embrace the power of books, fostering a love for literature that supports lifelong learning and personal growth. By engaging in fun and meaningful activities, such as guest read-alouds, book-themed events, and collaborative reading challenges, we emphasize how reading connects us to new ideas, cultures, and perspectives."
“Reading is the foundation of learning, and we are committed to instilling a love of reading in our students,” said Superintendent Dr. Christopher C. Irving. “Read Across America Week provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the power of books and inspire our students to become lifelong readers.”
The East Orange School District encourages parents and community members to continue participate by reading with their children and support literacy initiatives.
